Ánh sáng vũ trụ đầu tiên của Kính viễn vọng Discovery

<div align="left">Vào thứ 7 tuần trước (21/7/2012), Kính viễn vọng Discovery (DCT) tại Đài quan sát Lowell, gần Flagstaff, Arizona, đã hoàn thành và bắt đầu quan sát vũ trụ với máy ảnh 16 triệu pixel. <br>
Chiếc máy ảnh này có mối quan hệ chặt chẽ với NSF – nhà tài trợ thiết bị chụp ảnh đa dụng LMI với 36 triệu pixel hiện đang được thử nghiệm cải tiến và sẽ sớm được trang bị chính cho DCT.<br>

Xứng đáng là một trong những mục tiêu đầu tiên của DCT, bức ảnh này cho ta thấy các chi tiết tuyệt đẹp của thiên hà Sombrero nổi tiếng, khoảng 30 triệu năm ánh sáng từ Trái đất</div>.<br>

Trong những lần quan sát đầu tiên của mình, DCT đã chụp được thiên hà này. M109 cách chúng ta khoảng 84 triệu năm ánh sáng, trong chòm sao Gấu Lớn (Ursa Major).<br>
